Well The Professor and his Beloved Equation (IMDB) is the movie from the Yoko Ogawa's book, it simply has a partially different title.
Title that sticks more to the exact translation from Japanese and gives away a difference from the book.

The latter is narrated by the housekeeper while the movie comes from the point of view of the child who grew up and became a math teacher. You don't know what I am talking about? Check my previous post about the book.
There are several differences between book and movie, but you will appreciate this because it does not fail the book spirit. It is a light movie fully enjoyable. It won't take away the pleasure of reading the book nor the reverse would do.
A final note on the director Takashi Koizumi. He has been assistant director to Akira Kurosawa in many movie. Quality.
