Menu of the Day: Nothing to Declare, a movie by Dany Boon

Today's movie is nothing special. Nothing that will remain in the books of cinematography, but it is simply a funny story at the border between France and Belgium right before and after the unification of the European Union finally brought down ridiculous borders.
You will see this here too. The two towns are one, simply stay at two sides of the demarcation.
The cities are one in reality with internal dynamics, a bit of provincial siding, but essentially are people that know each other very well.
Then Maastricht regulation allows countries to tear down the borders, the two cities become effectively one, but while they both flourished during the borders time, now the things are far less prosperous. There is no reason for anyone to stop by.

In this framework the lives of the people, belgians and french, keeps mixing despite their resentment which is, in reality a way to hold to old times, which were not, after all, the golden age they now like to think they were. Things change, they accept it at the end, and after all, everything require a bit of a sacrifice, and that was all to gain.
It's a fun movie to watch.

Why I have chosen this? Well, because of this news. Not too long ago, probably not even 100 years ago, such thing would have brought the two countries to war. Now, at best, it will be a reason to increase local tourism and some parties. Thanks EU
